An overview of the Old Testament, with each book including its date, authorship, and canonicity
and outstanding events. Special emphasis is given to the Pentateuch. 113 Poetry and Wisdom Literature
A Study of the Hebrew poetry and wisdom literature of the Old Testament. Emphasis is given to
such literature as a select instrument for the expression of the will of God for man. An examination
of the problem of evil in Job, the use of Psalms in the worship of Israel and the practical lessons
of Proverbs. 123 Major Prophets
A study of the books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentation, Daniel and Ezekiel. Special emphasis is
given to messianic prophecy and to practical lessons for preacers found in the experiences of
these prophets. Attention will be given to the significance of symbolism, used in these sacred
writings. 133 Minor Prophets
A study of the last 12 books of the Old Testament, considering each prophet in the order of his
ministry, the relevance of their prophetic messages for today and the prophecies concerning the
coming of Christ and establishment of His Kingdom. |
